SalusCare earns three-year CARF Accreditation
SalusCare, Inc., a provider of not-for-profit mental health and substance use treatment services, has earned another three-year accreditation from CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. This award represents the highest level of accreditation that can be earned by an organization and it demonstrates SalusCare's substantial conformance to CARF standards. Organizations receiving a three-year accreditation have demonstrated to a team of surveyors a commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality. During this survey, SalusCare was found to be in conformance with all 1,892 standards that have been set forth to earn accreditation.
SalusCare, Inc. is a Fort Myers-based not-for-profit mental health and substance abuse service provider incorporated in 2013 after the merger of Lee Mental Health Center and Southwest Florida Addiction Services. SalusCare has six locations throughout Southwest Florida and serves 16,000 people each year.
Brown named Lee Memorial Hospital's chief physician and operations executive
Ryan Brown, M.D., SFHM, FACP, has been named chief physician and operations executive for Lee Memorial Hospital.
Brown comes to Lee Health with more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience.
In his new role, Brown will be responsible for overseeing all hospital operations at Lee Memorial, jointly with Julia Liebscher, RNC, MSM, BSN, chief nurse executive. That includes ensuring overall quality of medical care while supporting a culture of performance, quality, service, accountability, and transparency for clinicians and staff across Lee Memorial.
Most recently, Brown held leadership positions with Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, including specialty medical director for hospital medicine and medical director for acute care health informatics. He also previously served in leadership roles with Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, North Carolina, and the Naval Hospital Corpus Christi Health Care System in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Brown earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Brown began his role Oct. 1.
Zhao joins Physicians' Primary Care of Southwest Florida
Dr. Kent Zhao has joined Physicians' Primary Care of Southwest Florida as a family medicine physician
Zhao earned his medical degree from Fujian Medical University in China, where he graduated in the top 5 percent of his class. He served his residency in family medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he also was a postdoctoral research scholar.
He served a second residency in ophthalmology and was awarded a fellowship in ophthalmology at Fujian Provincial Hospital.
Most recently, Zhao was medical director of Clarkson Family Medicine in Omaha, Neb., and was an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Creighton University Medical School, also in Omaha.
He will see patients at the Fort Myers family medicine and internal medicine office of Physicians' Primary Care at 7381 College Parkway, phone 239-482-1010. His outpatient practice will include annual physical exams, comprehensive care and treatment, and same day appointments.
