After a one-year absence, Lee County Parks & Recreation will host its annual Health and Wellness Expo from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 2000 North Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers.
The event was not held last year because of COVID, and this year, because of the sharp increase of omicron COVID cases, Lee Health will not participate this time around.
"They have pulled out as COVID numbers are rising," said Jessy Zukaitis, who is organizing the event. "We will have other vendors from around the area setting up,"
About 20 vendors from health and wellness businesses such as Calusa Harbor assisted living, Medicare representatives, hearing specialists, chiropractors and other medical specialists are expected to be there, and you can still purchase a booth until the end of the week.
A jazzercise instructor is expected to come and do a demonstration to let those attending get moving. There will also be raffles for health-related prizes.
Even though Lee Health will not be there, there will still be an opportunity to donate blood at the Lee Health Blood Mobile, which is really needed as supplies are critically low.
"People who want to give can do that and sign up at the recreation center front desk. They can also stop in the day of," Zukaitis said.
This free event is designed for residents and visitors to meet with local agencies to learn how to live a healthier lifestyle.
In the past, around 200 people have attended, Zukaitis said.
