Cape Coral City Council’s consensus to let redevelopment plans and contracts for Jaycee Park stand will come back for a formal vote on Wednesday.
An addendum to reaffirm its full commitment and support for agreements made for Jaycee Park is part of the elected board’s consent agenda.
The addendum for Resolution 40-25 is for the "contractual obligations set forth within the Comprehensive Development Agreement with the City of Cape Coral and Fortress Secured, LLC for the delivery of the 100% completed design for those park improvements for Jaycee Park, and the Concessionaire Agreement between the City of Cape Coral and The Reef Cape Coral, LLC, for the management and operation of the Jaycee Park concession area and food truck court."
Those agreements were made on Sept. 10, 2024 and then reaffirmed last Wednesday at a Council workshop as nearby residents continue to protest the plans for the riverfront park at the end of Beach Parkway.
The city received an unsolicited Public-Private Partnership proposal on Nov. 17, 2023, from Fortress Secured, LLC and, on Aug. 21, 2024, the council approved the execution of the Comprehensive Development Agreement between the city and Fortress Secured, LLC and a concessionaire agreement with The Reef Cape Coral.
Consent agenda items pass unless pulled for discussion and a separate vote.
Other items on the agenda include:
• Resolution 352-24 for a license agreement between the City of Cape Coral and the Cape Coral Historical Society, Inc. for an annual cost of $45,000 for the operation and use of the Cape Coral Historical Museum. The agreement would terminate the 49-year lease currently.
The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in City Council Chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd. The meeting is open to the public.
