To the editor:
Trump is doing something in the extreme that I have never seen before and do not believe has happened even in the smallest way in America's history. He is acting as a world peace maker. Just since Jan. 21 of this year he has been involved in orchestrating peace with six wars (Israel-Iran, Armenia-Azerbaijan, DR Congo-Rwanda, India-Pakistan, Cambodia-Thailand and Egypt-Ethiopia).
Of course, the hardest one is in motion today. Stopping a very large country from attacking a smaller country is tough. Russia is governed by a psychopath who cares not that a million young men and innocents have died in this war and that Russia is still not close to their victory which they expected in days instead of years. His concern is not for the people in Ukraine that he is trying to capture but for more power.
Trump has a unique skill in being able to connect with anyone, even a psychopath. But that is the only way the war can be ended. If NATO nations step in and go to war, this could become World War III. Trump met with Putin hopeful that an end could be created but one meeting did not do it. So Trump met with the president of Ukraine and most of the major European heads of state. The meeting appears to be helpful since now Putin and Zelenskyy will meet. As long as one meeting leads to another, there is hope.
Trump's ability to negotiate grew over decades of real estate deals. He has the ability to be tough and yet not angry and offensive in negotiating.
The news was very revealing this weekend. ABC covered the Trump-Putin meeting and then included their bias inferring that the meeting was a flop. Now that is a view, not news. No wonder the listening public numbers have diminished. This bias and selective reporting has warranted the description of fake news. News is reporting what happened rather than someone's views.
We hear very little that is encouraging or hopeful from the Democrats, either. Is it possible that the left would rather exacerbate the war than for Trump to be successful in stopping it?
