Mariner’s Macias-Buenrostro wins boys LCAC cross country championship

LCAC: Dylan Macias-Buenrostro of Mariner won the LCAC Championships boys cross-country meet Thursday morning with a time of 16:26, 22 seconds ahead of second-place Reed Hagen of Fort Myers. Rueben Viera De Lemos of Cape was third.
Cape’s Mason Boyer was eighth and Joshua Warren ninth.
Brianna Watson of Island Coast was the best West Zone finisher in the girls race, coming in third in 21:30.1. North Fort Myers’ Aurelia Sciandra was fourth and Isabella Hull 10th as the Red Knight had five runners in the top 13.
Fort Myers swept both the boys and girls team scoring. North Fort Myers was second among the girls, with Cape Coral second and North third on the boys side.

Oasis 3, Evangelical Christian 2: With their backs against the wall, the Sharks fought their way to their 20th win of the season (20-5). ECS led 2-1 and had match point in the fourth set (24-21) before the Sharks took the next five points. Oasis then won the fifth set for a 16-25, 25-20, 23-25, 26-14, 15-13 victory. Ellye Henkle had 18 kills and Jordan Baksh 16 for the Sharks. Brooklynn Blusiewicz made 38 digs, while Tessa Bexfield had 27 assists and Lexie Skorzak added 26.

Lehigh 3, Cape Coral 2: The Seahawks finished the regular season 14-11with a hard-fought 17-25, 25-22, 26-24, 22-25, 15-13 loss to Lehigh.
Mariner 3, Bonita Springs 2: Mariner wrapped up regular-season play with a 26-24, 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-9 marathon victory.
Estero 3, Riverdale 0: Estero won the LCAC Championship with a sweep of Riverdale in the final.
