This month's roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages.
The following activities are free to the public:
Adult Programs
Adult Crafternoon: Vision Calendars
5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6
1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8
Design a 2026 calendar featuring a personalized vision board for each month. Set your intentions and get inspired for the year ahead. Registration required.
Knit and Stitch
10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 21
A casual, self-guided group for knitting, crochet and other needle arts. Join in to share projects, ideas and techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects and tools. Basic materials and supplies are available for newcomers. Personal instruction will not be available.
Mahjongg Club
12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 21
Join us for a social group playing American Mahjongg. Some experience is required to play. American Mahjongg uses an annual card of Official Standard Hands and Rules, against which all games are played. These cards are available from the National Mahjongg League and you will need to bring your card to use while playing.
Coloring Club
2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10
Join us for a relaxing afternoon of coloring while making new friends. All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own coloring books.
Tech Assistance at Your Library: One-on-One Help
2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7
Need help with a laptop, tablet, e-reader or other device? Are you looking to learn about accessing library e-resources? We can help with a 30-minute, one-on-one technology help session. Please have chargers and passwords for devices with you before the appointment. Registration is required.
Chess at the Library

Enjoy chess at the library in a casual environment. Chess boards will be provided, but you can also bring your own. People of all ages and skill levels are invited.
The Book n' Brew Society
10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14
Do you enjoy robust, engaging book discussions? Join us and share your latest reading recommendations. Tea and coffee will be served.
Goodwill/Northwest Regional Library Job Fair
Noon, Wednesday, Jan. 14
Visit the job fair, meet employers and learn about opportunities. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Presented by Goodwill Industries of SWFL in partnership with the Northwest Regional Library.
Tabletop Game Time
1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14
Meet up at the library for a monthly board game night featuring modern tabletop games. The library has a rotating collection of light to medium weight games or bring your own games to teach and share. New and experienced players welcome.
Clothing Swap: Library Edition
5:30 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21
9:30 – 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22
Refresh your wardrobe at our community clothing swap. To participate, please bring five to 10 items of clothing that are clean and in good condition to Meeting Room A 30 minutes before the program starts and return at the program start time for the swap. We welcome attire of all ages, sizes and styles. We will not accept event T-shirts, shoes, undergarments or anything stained, ripped or faded.

Kids Read Down Fines
4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 14
11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17
Children and teens with overdue fines on their account can reduce their fine by $2 for every 15 minutes they read during this program. Earn up to a maximum of $8 in one session. Credit will be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under and can be used only for overdue fines. Please bring your library card and check in at youth desk.
Little Builders Block Party
11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 8
Build and play with a variety of preschool-friendly construction materials. For children through age 5 years.
Homeschool Club: Coding with Robot Cars
10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 9
Speed into STEAM with Sphero indi, the most approachable entry-level learning robot for kids. Sphero indi inspires imaginative, play-based learning by empowering kids to design and build their own mazes while creating opportunities to learn the basics of coding, solve problems and nurture computational thinking skills. This program is intended for homeschoolers ages 5-17 years. Registration is required.

Baby Playtime

Make new friends at Baby Playtime. Babies and caregivers are welcome to explore as they develop early literacy skills through free play, games and toys. Registration is required and guarantees your spot until the start of the program. For babies through age 20 months.
D&D 101
4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 27
New to Dungeons & Dragons? Curious but overwhelmed by all the rules, dice and character options? This beginner-friendly session is for you. From how the game works and how to role-play, to how to build a character and use those funky dice, we'll cover the basics. No experience needed. All materials provided, just bring your imagination and a sense of adventure. For ages 8-18 years.

Family Storytime

For children through age 5 years with caregiver. Enjoy books, rhymes, songs and activities. This fun and engaging program offers kids a chance to make friends and build skills through stories, music and movement. Caregivers participate with their children while learning helpful early literacy strategies and tips to continue at home.
Preschool Storytime

For children ages 3-5 years. Your preschooler will build relationships, meet new friends and develop school readiness skills. This fun and interactive storytime fosters independent thinking and a lifelong love of learning through reading, talking, singing, writing and playing. Children attend this program independently while parents and caregivers wait nearby. Space is limited to 14 tickets. Arrive early and visit the children's desk to check in. First-come, first-served.
Toddler Tales
10:30 & 11:30 a.m.,

For children ages 18-36 months and caregivers. Caregivers move and groove with their toddlers during this interactive and high-energy storytime that uses stories, music, movement and rhymes to support language and motor skills. Caregivers participate with their children while discovering early literacy strategies and tips to use at home. Space is limited to 14 tickets. Arrive early and visit the children's desk to check in. First-come, first-served.
Baby Rhyme Time

For babies through age 18 months with caregiver. Wiggle and giggle to bond with your baby through books, rhymes and songs in this lap-sit program that introduces early literacy skills and encourages language, motor and social skills. Each program offers literacy tips and strategies to stimulate your baby's brain development and enhance future reading success.
Lego Club
1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24
Explore your creativity through building with Lego. What will you make? This is a fun activity the whole family will enjoy. All materials are provided.
Books and Blankets

Join us with your blankies and pajamas for this nighttime edition of storytime. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.
