Garden tours at Cape Museum of History Wednesday
Rain barrel class Saturday during Water Ways Festival

There will be a free garden tour at the Cape Coral Museum on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. Master Gardeners will show participants around the museum garden that they have planned, planted and maintained using the University of Florida's principles for a Florida Friendly Landscape. This means that there are not any invasive plants in this garden. Guests will be able to see the size of mature plants and learn how to maintain them. This translates to easier lawn care, less water and fertilizer.
These tours are conducted on the second Wednesday afternoon of each month through April.
This Saturday, Feb. 7, is the second annual Water Ways Festival in the new Culture Park, behind the museum and theater. There will be vendor booths, entertainment, food trucks, things for the kids and free museum garden tours lead by Master Gardeners, who will also have a booth on the museum grounds.
While the festival is in progress, there will be a free rain barrel class inside the museum. There will demonstrations showing how to outfit a rain barrel, where to place it in your yard and how to use it. There are five rain barrels in the museum garden. Master Gardeners will show and tell you all about them.
There will be rain barrels for purchase for $55 at the class.
The tour, festival and workshop are all free, plus free parking.
