The Quarter Auction Queens help to help an 85-year-old veteran and his wife by collecting nonperishable products to donate to the family next week.
The fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Hooked Island Grill, 4721 S.E. 10th Place. Participants can win auction items for two or three quarters. Paddles are $3.
There will be door prizes, chance auction, 50/50 drawing, cash bar, food, and beverages available.
Eileen Snider, a 25-year resident of Cape Coral, began holding quarter auctions 14 years ago this July. She said she has featured more than 95 charities for a total of more than 150 different charities in that time frame.
Snider began working with Holiday 4 Heroes eight years ago, which was founded by Jonette Kessack, owner of a postage and wine store in 2007.
"I saw the article in last week weekend's Breeze on 85-year-old veteran Herbert (Bert) Coffen and his wife on the GoFundMe," she said. "I will be asking the guests who attend to bring nonperishable products to donate to the family. For every item they will get a ticket, which will have a special raffle for the guests to win."
Examples of items sought include tuna and chicken salad snack packs, peanut butter, jelly, water, protein bars, breakfast bars, toilet paper, soup, rice, and beans.
"I hope this will bring more awareness to seniors in need in our community. I can't imagine what their family is going through," Snider said.
