Reminder: Oct. 7 is the voter registration deadline for the 2024 General Election

Lee County Supervisor of Elections Tommy Doyle reminds voters that the deadline to register to vote for the upcoming general election is next week, Oct. 7. The general election will take place on Nov. 5. Per Florida law, the voter registration deadline is 29 days before an election. Voter registration applications can be submitted in person at any of the Elections Office locations, by mail or online. Proposal to rename Jaycee Park withdrawn

The city of Cape Coral has received a formal request to withdraw the proposal to rename Jaycee Park to Roger Dean Park. "I would like to rescind my request to have Jaycee Park renamed Rodger Dean Park," said Patricia B. Dean in a letter to the city dated today. "It was never my intention to offend or upset the citizens of Cape oral or diminish the achievements of the Jaycees, my only intention was to honor my father." Power outages top 1 million customers statewide

According to a FindEnergy.com release this morning 1,222,369 out of 11,942,584 tracked meters — more than 10% — were without power in Florida. In Lee County as of 6:55 a.m., 70,777 were without power. In Cape Coral, outages were minimal as of this morning with 243 customers — about .3% — without electric services, according to LCEC. City of Cape Coral’s final budget hearing re-scheduled

The city of Cape Coral has rescheduled its final budget hearing for Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 5:05 p.m. or immediately following the regular City Council meeting (whichever comes first). The meeting will be held in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard. The budget hearing, originally scheduled for Sept. 26, was postponed due to Hurricane Helene's impacts. The purpose of this hearing is to adopt the 2025 millage rate and budget.
