City continues to monitor Helene; offices to reopen Friday

As Hurricane Helene moves north, the city of Cape Coral continues to monitor conditions, expecting residual tropical storm impacts this evening. Final city budget hearing is Thursday

Cape Coral City Council will hold its final budget hearing for the upcoming fiscal year Thursday. The proposed property tax rate is 5.2188 mills, or $1 for every $1,000 of assessed taxable valuation. The not-to-exceed rate of 5.2188 mills was included in the TRIM notice mailed to residents in August and was set at the first public hearing earlier this month. This tentative millage rate is 2.55% higher than the 5.0888 "roll-back rate," the rate at which the city would received the same amount of revenue as last year. Lee Commissioners to conduct meeting to discuss State of Local Emergency

The Lee Board of County Commissioners will conduct an emergency meeting at 2:30 p.m. today to discuss a State of Local Emergency for Tropical Storm Helene and to receive an update on storm-related issues. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in the Commission Chambers, Second Floor, 2120 Main Street, Fort Myers.
