Lee County Elections mails Vote-by-Mail and Early Voting Notices to voters for the November 2024 General Election

On Monday, the Lee County Supervisor of Elections office began mailing Vote-by-Mail and Early Voting informational notices to approximately 344,000 Lee County voters who do not have a Vote-by-Mail request on file for the Nov. 5 General Election. The notice provides voters with information about alternatives to voting on Election Day. Cape Council to weigh property tax rates on Thursday

Cape Coral City Council will discuss two millage rates Thursday during the first public budget hearing for Fiscal Year 2025. The two are the not-to-exceed rate of 5.2188 mills, which Council established on July 24. This rate is 2.55% above the "roll back" rate of 5.0888 mills, the other property ta rate on the table. One mill is equal to $1 for every $1,000 of taxable assessed valuation. The "roll-back" rate is the rate at which overall property tax revenue received by the city is flat. CRA to set public parking fees at The Cove

The Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency is expected to set the fees Wednesday for the public spaces within the parking garage at The Cove. According to the resolution, the parking garage “shall contain 125 parking spaces on the first and second levels/floors in the garage, which shall be for the benefit of the general public in perpetuity.” It further states that “it has been determined that a fee-based parking system will assist in managing demand for those garage parking spaces by incentivizing turnover within the public parking garage area.” The recommended public ...

Motorists urged to use caution in the area of the Veterans Parkway and Midpoint Bridge due to overnight lane closures

Motorists are asked to use caution along Veterans Memorial Parkway between Country Club Boulevard in Cape Coral and the Fort Myers side of the Midpoint Bridge as temporary lane closures are planned in the overnight hours for the next two weeks to allow repaving. Electronic message boards are in place and detours will be in place as necessary. The work is being scheduled in the overnight hours to minimize disruption. Cape Hospital’s Complex Care Center to open Tuesday

A new arm of Cape Coral Hospital is set to open next week, which Lee Health officials say will help with the growing population of the city and meet its needs. The Complex Care Center at Cape Coral Hospital, located inside of the facility's Medical Office Building, will welcome patients on Sept. 10, enabling residents and visitors to receive "high-quality care close to home" after hospital discharge. FDOT announces overnight lane closures on Pine Island Road now through Dec. 13

The Florida Department of Transportation, District One, has issued a notification to the public of the upcoming nighttime/overnight lane closures on CR 78 (Pine Island Road). The eastbound and westbound lanes from Sandoval Parkway to Royal Tee Boulevard in Cape Coral will experience lane closures and slow-moving traffic starting today, Sept. 6, until Friday, Dec. 13. Lane closures will occur between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Crews will be performing work along the roadway. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
