Kiwanis delivers world atlases to local students

The Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis has provided a total of 511 world atlases to local third and fourth graders at Heights Elementary School, Orangewood Elementary School and Rayma C. Page Elementary in Fort Myers, and Dr. Carrie D. Robinson Littleton Elementary in North Fort Myers. The books are used in school curriculum and are the individual students to keep as their own.

The club has delivered the books in-person to students in the past, but due to COVID restrictions the books were supplied to school administrators to distribute.

"Our students love the atlas books. They are always so excited when they know it is theirs and they can take it home," said Debra Balzano, a fourth-grade teacher at Dr. Carrie D. Robinson Littleton Elementary.

The world atlases were funded by the Kiwanis volunteers and also with local fundraising efforts through the club's "Delicious Dining Discount" coupon book. The coupon book includes 46 local restaurants in Lee County for $25. Most discounts are valid now through Nov. 15, 2021. Typically, the coupon is "Buy one entree, get one of equal or lesser value, with the purchase of two beverages," but some restrictions may be applied depending on the restaurant.
