The Cape Coral City Council will get an update on the recovery efforts from Hurricane Ian and the new EnerGov system today.
There was no background materials on either subject at press time.
There also will be an ordinance to repeal certain standards regarding security or fire alarms homes in the city.
Police Chief Anthony Sizemore said at the last council workshop that the ordinance has become outdated because alarms have become more advanced and less prone to error.
The existing ordinance allows for two false alarms before fines kicked in, with the maximum being $400 for repeated false alarms.
Another ordinance, brought forward by Councilmember Keith Long, will be considered to prohibit any boat from mooring in the centermost 30 percent of the width of any waterway within the city.
Fines for violations would be $100 for the first offense and $200 for subsequent violations. It will not cover any future mooring fields.
City Council also will consider several consent agenda items, including two regarding the construction of the renovated Yacht Club.
The council will decide whether to accept two grants from the Lee County Tourist Development Council Beach and Shoreline Grant for a new Yacht Club Beach restroom and for the expansion of the shoreline.
The restroom grant is for $370,971 and the shoreline grant is for $814,453, both of which will be matched by the city.
There is also a third TDC shoreline grant for park maintenance for the Four Mile Cove Ecological, Sirenia Vista and Rotary parks and the Glover Bight boardwalk, with a value of $118,000.
Another grant from FEMA for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant for $215,411 will be considered. The city will have to contribute 10 percent for a total of $236,952.
As this is a consent item, the item is automatically passed unless pulled for discussion and voted against, which is rare.
The meeting, the final regular meeting before the General Election, will begin at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall.
