As Hurricane Helene approaches, The Salvation Army in Lee County is intensifying its efforts to protect the community's most vulnerable individuals. In partnership with Lee County Human and Veteran Services, as well as local law enforcement, The Salvation Army is opening an additional 40 beds to provide emergency shelter at its LIFNAV Center. Those seeking refuge will receive shelter, meals and critical support services during this challenging time.
"We are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure our most vulnerable neighbors have a safe place during this storm," said Major Ethan Frizzell, Area Commander of The Salvation Army Lee County. "This initiative is part of our ongoing mission to serve individuals in need, especially during disasters."
With the storm posing significant risks, the team is working closely with local partners to identify those at greatest risk. It is prioritizing swift action to ensure they have access to shelter and vital services. The 40 additional beds are part of a larger strategy to provide holistic support, including meals and emotional care, to those affected by the storm
