Elaine Lally Friel, 79, of Cape Coral, FL and Laconia, NH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
She grew up in Shrewsbury, MA and attended Shrewsbury High School where she excelled as a member of the debate team. She was a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Penn State University where she received her master’s degree. Elaine was an outstanding art teacher having taught both in Alexandria, VA and Stamford, CT. Later she established her own graphic design business. After her retirement, Elaine painted scenes of her beloved New Hampshire and became a master weaver of Nantucket Lightship Baskets. One of her many passions was traveling, having visited all 50 states and 99 countries. This even included Antarctica! Elaine loved cats. As an adult, she had 6 of them!
Elaine touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She will be truly missed by her relatives and her large family of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a breast foundation or to a charity of your choice.
A private graveside service will be held in Elaine’s honor at 11 am on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Mountainview Cemetery.
