Trespass by the city

1 min read

To the editor:

A recent news release by the city of Cape Coral proudly announces that "violation" signs will now be posted on any private property that is allegedly in violation of ordinances and codes. This "proves" to the neighbors that the City is "doing something" about this or that alleged violation. Actually, it is a bureaucrat-designed "perp walk" for landowners through the city. Also, this means that city employees are deliberately trespassing on private property and installing signs without permission and without due process of law, simply because some bureaucrat has determined (to their own satisfaction and no one else's) that some violation or another has occurred .

Shame on them. How dare they?

I call on the Cape Coral Police Department to seize the signs as evidence of criminal mischief and criminal trespass. I call on the CCPD to arrest these clowns and their supervisors and to charge them. I call on the City Council to direct city supervisors and employees to stop immediately.

In other words, simply write a summons and be done with it. In other words, know your place and stay there.
