To the editor:
As of today, April 4, there are only 124 people that have donated to this very questionable use of money for a flag pole that the permanent residents will have to fund maintenance to a tune of $15,000 to $16,000 annually with our tax dollars.
Only 124 people out of a city with approximately 225,000 to 233,000 permanent residences.
If these 124 donors are the only ones donating to date, how many more people do you think you can con into donating? It sure looks like the majority of Cape Coral citizens are not interested or they don't agree with this wasteful amount of money being used for a flag pole.
And if this private donor is going to foot the bill for the difference if the "people" are not; why doesn't this donor want his/her name known"? It's the American flag, this donor should be very proud to fund an American flag project.
This is just another disappointing project that gets the green light without a majority of citizens participating.
One hundred and twenty-four donors!!
Return the money to the donors or put the money toward another project, say the Cape Coral Yacht Club.
