North baseball team eliminated from playoffs; girls tennis players headed to state

Charlotte 8, North Fort Myers 5: The Tarpons did their damage in the fifth and sixth innings to advance to the region semifinals against Fort Myers. The Red Knights, playing their only home game in the best-of-3, ended the season 16-12. Matthew Blasena had a big game for North, hitting three doubles, scoring two runs and driving in two more. Caedon Conn had three hits and two RBI for the Red Knights. The season ended with four games between Charlotte and North Fort Myers, with the Tarpons winning both the District 5-11 title and two of three in the region playoff series.
GIRLS TENNIS
STATE-BOUND: North High’s Alexis Neumann will be competing in the Class 3A FHSAA Championships as a singles player, and the Bishop Verot doubles team of Sara Chrysler and Summer Jacobs earned an invitation to play in Class 2A.
Class 3A players will compete at Sanlando Park in Seminole County on April 28-30, while Class 2A individuals and doubles teams will play at nearby Sylvan Lake Park from April 30 through May 2.
