PRESEASON FOOTBALL
Cape Coral 47, Aubrey Rogers 0: Cape scored on its first three possessions and never looked back. The score was 40-0 at halftime. Derek Hooker passed for five touchdowns on a night when he completed his first 11 passes and finished 13 of 14. Defensively, Hezekiah Jones had a pick-six and a fumble recovery to set up another score. Jayden Reyes also had an interception.
Mariner 16, Gateway 8: In a game dominated by defense and penalties, Cooper Rivera’s field goal gave the Tritons the only score of the first half. Owen O’Leary scored on a 2-yard keeper late in the third quarter and passed to Steven Carter for a 46-yard score early in the fourth. The game was the first under new Mariner coach Tyran Jones.
Oasis 35, Palmetto Ridge 14: The Sharks ran for four touchdowns on their way to the win. Kevin Cisnero had two TD runs, with Cameron Hill and Jackson Sabath adding one each. Sabath also connected with James Wagenhoffer for a TD pass.
Ida Baker 26, East Lee County 7: Nikolas Korf ran for three Bulldogs scores and Aiden Thurber hit Caelum Craigin for a touchdown pass. Cullen O’Brien made his debut as Ida Baker coach.
Island Coast 22, Bonita Springs 12: Former assistant Steve O’Neal coached the Gators after Tryan Jones left Island Coast for Mariner.
Bishop Verot 38, Neumann 7: Sophomore quarterback Austan Cristiaan passed for four touchdowns as the Vikings rolled in their preseason game. Ayden Gonzalez scored all four of those TDs, catching seven Christiaan passes on the night.
