First round
Oasis 24, Inlet Grove 0: Defense led the way for Oasis, winning its first-round game in the inaugural FHSAA Florida Invitational Tournament. Nicholas Galeano and Kaleb Stengel each had a pick-six, with Stengel racing 80 yards for his score. Oasis sacked the Inlet Grove quarterback nine times. Quarterback Jackson Sabath ran 18 yards for a touchdown and Lauro Hendricks kicked a 27-yard field goal. The Sharks (4-6) travel to face North Miami Beach, the top seed in the southern half of the bracket, next Thursday.
BOYS SOCCER
Mariner 4, Ida Baker 0: Jayden Torres led the Tritons (4-0-0) with a goal and two assists. Justin Medero and Carlos Santana had a goal and an assist each, and Myle Rios also scored. Eduardo Sanchez and Aiden Mace split the shutout in net.
North Fort Myers 6, South Fort Myers 4: The Red Knights (5-0-0) won a wild one at South Fort Myers on Thursday.
First Baptist 2, Oasis 1: Oasis slipped to 3-2-1. FBA took a 2-0 lead at half, and the Sharks were unable to get the equalizer in the second half.
Bishop Verot 2, Community School of Naples 0: With the win, the Vikings are 2-0-1. Sean Conger and Jack Fish scored for Bishop Verot, with Jayden Ramirez and Logan Lampitt making the assists.
Cape Coral 2, Port Charlotte 1: The Seahawks picked up their first win of the season (1-2-2).
GIRLS SOCCER
Mariner 3, Ida Baker 0: Avery Ameral, Natalia Resto and Caroline Orth scored for the Tritons (3-0-0). Kelsi Longabardi made two assists.
Oasis 1, First Baptist 1 (draw): Adrianna Cates scored for the Sharks on an assist by Erin Vezzola. Madison Vetter had six shots on goal for Oasis (2-1-3).
Bishop Verot 2, Barron Collier 1: Katie Pelkofski scored and made an assist on Ella Ritz’s goal as the Vikings improved to 4-0-0. Alexis Crisman earned the win in goal.
East Lee County 3, Island Coast 2: Brittany Perez Mendoza scored both goals for the Gators (1-2).
