Florida Atlantic University emerged last weekend as the champions of the 2026 APP Selkirk Collegiate Championships at The Courts, Cape Coral. The event, which featured some of the best pickleball teams in the country, was hosted by the Association of Pickleball Players.
FAU claimed the top spot from the field that included defending champ, University of Florida, along with Florida State, Miami, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Utah Tech, Texas, Indiana, Purdue, Virginia, Grand Canyon and UConn.
The winning team was comprised of Jayden Broderick, Gianna Jarman, Alex LaMacchio and Bella Nelson. En route to the title, FAU defeated Utah Tech, Texas, Fresno State, Mississippi State and Radford.
FAU also shined in other championship categories with LaMacchio taking the singles crown, defeating his teammate, Broderick, in the final match.
The two teamed up to win the men's doubles competition, downing the pair from Texas in the finals.
In women's singles, Tate Keber from Florida State captured the crown, defeating Utah Tech's Lauren Mercado in the finals.
In women's doubles, UT's Mercado teamed with Mary Monson to earn the championship.
In the mixed doubles competition, Utah Tech earned another crown as Mercado and her teammate Liam Duffin teamed up to down the duo from Florida Atlantic.
