Students from Cape Coral named to Dean’s List

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The following students were named to the summer 2021 quarter Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Florida campus in Port Orange, Florida.

• Zachary Trantina of Cape Coral.

• Bryce Van Horn of Cape Coral.

Local students make Dean’s List at University of Maryland Global Campus

ADELPHI, MD — The following local students made the Dean’s List for the summer term at University of Maryland Global Campus. To be eligible for the honor, a student must have completed at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

• Evelyn Varkoly of Cape Coral.

Established in 1947, University of Maryland Global Campus offers online programs in biotechnology, cybersecurity, data analytics and information technology. The university, with an enrollment of some 90,000 students, offers both undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs, including doctoral programs.

FSW students named 2021 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars

Florida SouthWestern State College students Alexis Isherwood and Mia Aragon were named 2021 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars. They are two of 207 Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members to be named 2021 Leaders of Promise Scholars and will receive $1,000 scholarships from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.

The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new PTK members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Scholars are encouraged to assume leadership roles by participating in PTK programs and are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, and leadership potential. More than 900 applications were received.

A total of $207,000 is awarded through the Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program.

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 nations, with approximately 240,000 active members in the nation's colleges. Learn more at ptk.org.
